Hilda finished high school and became a school teacher and taught school at a place called Bienfait (she pronounced it Bayan Fay). From here when the family moved to Vancouver, she taught school at one of the first residential schools for the Indian children, situated in Chilliwack, BC - called Coqualeetza - where she taught while courting my grandfather until he finally persuaded her to settle down in Vancouver and on 28 Aug 1928 they were married.
