Thomas Mottram, born 1736 at Treeton married Mary Pearson(b.1743) 23 APR 1772 at Laughton En Le Morthen, daughter of Henry. Their son:

Thomas Mottram c.07 OCT 1772 Laughton En Le Morthen married to Ann Shaw¹ on 27th April, 1803

Thomas was running New Orchard in 1817.In 1851 Ann was a widow aged 67, farming at New Orchard.

In 1849 Matthew was farming at Brampton-en-le-Morthen, by 1891 he is retired and a widower.

Robert Mottram and Hannah had 3 children, born at Carr: Arthur Edward Born abt 1867, Fred Born abt 1868, Edmond Born abt 1870.

By 1901 Arthur Edward had married Emily Sophia Bell Born abt 1866, the daughter of John Thomas Bell of Wickersley.

They had 2 children: Thomas A R Born abt 1894 Aston, Lionel E Born abt 1900 Eastwood.

 

Note: ¹Possible that Ann Mottram (Nee Shaw- wife of Thomas Mottram ) born 1776 is daughter of JOHN SHAW and ANN BOOKER(daughter of Daniel Booker) who married at Laughton En Le Morthen.

On Laughton Road there was a small Hardware store, next to Perrys shop/garage. It is now a bungalow and was recently extended. That shop was owned and run by George Mottram who was great grandson to Richard Mottram (son of Thomas and Ann Shaw). George was born at South Anston in 1923. He lived on Rowena Drive until he died in 1976.
