Vera Capp she was a dinner lady at Thurcroft Secondary School ( vegetable cook ) from Nov 1953 to about 1974, by 1974 it had become the Junior school.

Vera was better known then as Mrs Wildsmith from her first marriage to Roger Wildsmith in July 1937. After his death she married to Jim Capp in May 1971.

 

 

Edwin HillHer parents came from Derbyshire and bought the sweet shop on Green Arbour Road.

Albert Edwin Hill born 10/1/1882 Chesterfield, married Edith Barker born 20/2/1883 Loscoe, daughter of Elijah Barker.

They had six children all born in Dinnington:

  1. Oliver 1907-1909 Died of Pneumonia, buried Heanor cemetery, Derbyshire
  2. Clarence Elijah born 12/12/1909
  3. Olwin Robert born 15/6/1911. He took over the shop when their father retired
  4. Vera born 5/11/1913, 3 daughters
  5. Freda born 2/11/1916, 3 children
  6. Edith born 16/6/1919
