Farming Stock for sale
On 27th April 1803 a notice in the newspapers invited all persons who had a claim or demand against Hurt Sitwell, formerley of Thurcroft to contact Makepeace of London.
Later the following was in the papers
TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION By Mr. GOSLINGUpon the Premises at Thurcroft, near Rotherham, in the county of York, on Wednesday and Thursday the 25th and 26th days of May, 1803;
The valuable FARMING STOCK, Racers, Hunters, Hacks, Brood Mares, Colts, Fillies, and other Effects, late of the Property of HURT SITWELL, Esq. Deceased
The Farming Stock, which consists of Waggons, Carts, Ploughs, Harrows, Implements of Husbandry, etc, will be sold the first day, and the Sheep, Lambs, Racers, Hunters, Hacks, etc. etc. on the last day.
The sale to commence precisely at Eleven o'clock each day.
Catalogues to be had upon the Premises, and at the Principal Inns at Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield, and Chesterfield.
